Whale and Dolphin Watching

Go on a sea mammal watch and see lots more! Marine birds, flying fish, and sea turtles can be observed along with whales and dolphins. Go for a whole day excursion or a half day accompanied by a professional biologist. On the full day excursion, lunch is included in a restaurant by the beach serving local cuisine. Full day is 7 hours, half day is 3 hours.

Jeep Safari

Discover the hidden natural beauty of Sao Miguel in a Jeep Safari. Jeep Safaris can take you to the East side of the island or the West side and can either be a full or half day. You can mix and match. The full day safaris include lunch. The West side safari includes lunch at a private 17th century country estate. These safaris will take you to places that even most of the locals are not familiar with. This is a must activity for nature lovers. Safaris require a minimum of 2 people.

Sport Fishing

Admittedly, this is not for everyone, but which man has not dreamed at least once to tackle the most challenging game fish on the planet? The big game fish such as tuna and marlin are only available during the high season. However, light tackle fishing and deep sea fishing is available all year. Hot Springs & Dinner

Discover what it is like to swim around in a real natural hot tub. The Caldeira Velha is a small crater (25 feet in diameter) that is fed by hot springs and makes for a delicious prelude to a romantic evening. At night it is illuminated by torches and has a natural waterfall behind it. The evening starts with a visit to Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lagoon) one of the most spectacular lakes in Sao Miguel. The evening is rounded off with an exquisite meal served by a local restauraunt complete with choice of fish or meat, and choice of red or white wine.

Bike Tours

Bike tours are usually organized in order to take advantage of the breathtaking views available in Sao Miguel, but any tour can be arranged in any other part of the island. You are transported to the best locations in a four wheel drive vehicle and provided with a back pack, a snack and area maps. At a pre-arranged time you will be picked up and brought back to your hotel.

Scuba Diving

For divers with some experience, there are expeditions organized by professional divers. However, for beginners, there is an opportunity with "Try-a-Dive" to learn the basics. The Azores waters are considered by diving professionals to be among the best in the world for clarity and variety of species. This is the real deal.

Equestrian Show & Dinner

The show begins around 7:30 PM at the riding school of the Equestrian Association. Guests will attend a "dressage" show carried out in the purest Portuguese tradition. After the demonstration of the "art of well riding" dinner will be served on site. A must for horse lovers.

Elegant Soirée

Private dinner at an authentic 17th century country manor house. Cocktails at 7:30 PM, dinner served at 8:00 PM. The traditional Portuguese five-course meal, complete with white and red wine. A truly memorable evening to cap your stay in Sao Miguel. Highly recommended.
